关于美国麻州大学波士顿分校招收硕士研究生的通知

美国马萨诸塞州大学波士顿分校(University of Massachusetts Boston)与中国人民大学已经建立和保持了紧密的合作,两校共同建设的孔子学院被国家汉办许琳主任评价为“美国孔子学院的一面旗帜”。为进一步推动与中国人民大学和中国其他大学的交流,麻州大学波士顿分校决定在中国人民大学选录硕士研究生。

专业和项目简介

麻州大学波士顿分校此次主要招收一至两年期硕士项目,主要集中在管理学院、麦科马克政策与全球研究院、教育学院等,具体专业是:工商管理(Business Administration)、会计学(Accounting)、金融学(Finance)、国际管理(International Management)、信息科技(Information Technology)、争端解决(Conflict Resolution)、国际关系(International Relations)、公共事务(Public Affairs)、老龄人口服务(Management of Aging Services)、人口老龄化研究、政策(Gerontology Research/Policy)、教育管理(Educational Administration

申请条件

中国人民大学本科四年级学生,报考中国人民大学硕士研究生并通过复试分数线而未被中国人民大学录取的学生均可报名。申请者至少应具有如下条件:平均学分积应达到2.75。身心健康,能适应国外的学习和生活;有较强的英语能力,能够熟练的使用英语进行听课、讨论、作业等,托福成绩90分、雅思最低6.5分,如无托福、雅思成绩,需大学英语六级考试最低400分。具体条件以附件3和附件4为准。

申请程序

申请者需在326日(含)前提交申请书、相关证明等,具体提交材料。所有材料需在线提交http://www.umb.edu/admissions/grad/apply,并同时将申请材料电子版发送至 Michael.Alderman@umb.educhengyun.liu@umb.edu,邮件请以“Renmin-Major”为标题。关于此项目的问题也请联系Michael.Alderman@umb.edu45日和6日,麻州大学波士顿分校将在中国人民大学对申请人进行面试。

相关费用

326日前申请本项目者不必缴纳申请费用,面试表现优异者将获得麻州大学波士顿分校提供的奖学金。学费9758美元,保险等费用19121美元,机票、房租等10200美元,书本费860美元等,具体参见附件5

其他事项

已被中国人民大学录取的硕士研究生请不要申请此项目,可关注麻州大学波士顿分校即将与中国人民大学开展的硕士双学位联合培养项目。

学生可同时申请多个项目,但需分别提交申请。

录取后不得退出,若因学生个人原因退出的,3年内不得申请相关项目。

General Requirements List

Specific Requirements

1

Official Transcripts and Official English Translations

 

Official transcripts from all institutions attended, even if you were not awarded a degree.

A transcript is considered official if it is either sent directly from the institution, or is mailed in an envelope sealed by the issuing institution.

Transcripts must demonstrate the following:a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale (or international equivalent) in all undergraduate work.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or an equivalent international degree.

All applicants must submit an official transcript of their academic record, including grades. If your transcript is in a language other than English, each page must be accompanied by an English translation, validated by an official public translator.

Evidence of Completion of a University-level Degree Program

International applicants must submit evidence that they have completed the equivalency of a U.S. university-level Bachelor's degree program. Acceptable evidence includes official copies of diplomas, certificates, and notifications of final examination results.

Letters of Recommendation

 

Applicants must submit three (3) letters of recommendation.

Former professors familiar with the applicant’s academic abilities and capacity to perform graduate-level work provide the strongest recommendations; at least one letter should fit this description.

Recommenders should have worked closely with the applicant in an academic, professional, or community service setting.

Letters should not be written by friends or family members of the applicant.

Letters should focus on the applicant’s abilities and past academic performance, while also indicating an ability to effectively complete graduate-level work.

Statement of Purpose

 

The statement of purpose is your opportunity to show the graduate admissions committee your reasons for wishing to pursue graduate study, as well as your specific interests and goals.

The two-part statement should consist of the following:an initial section of up to 300 words describing your reasons for wishing to pursue graduate studies; a second section of no less than 1,200 words describing your specific interests, the kind of work you intend to perform, and your goals within the program to which you are applying.

The program to which you are applying may have other instructions regarding the content and nature of this statement. Departmental requirements supersede these general requirements. Be sure to check with your intended program of study to ensure you correctly complete the statement of purpose.

The statement should follow these formatting guidelines:essays should be typed; each page must have a heading that includes your name and the last four digits of your Social Security Number, if available; if mailed, the essay must be printed on plain, U.S. letter-size paper.

Tests scores:

1). Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Exam Scores

2). GRE/GMAT scores

 

International applicants must submit official score results for either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam. Please have the testing agency report results directly to UMass Boston.(minimum score see attachment 1)

Applicants are exempt from submitting these test scores if they have received at least four (4) years of education (including their undergraduate program) in the United States, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize,  Canada (except Quebec), Dominica, Grenada, Grand Cayman, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Liberia,  New Zealand, Trinidad/Tobago, Singapore, or the United Kingdom.

The requirement may also be waived if the applicant has completed at least two (2) academic years of study, full-time, at an English-speaking college or university in the U.S., by the deadline of the program to which they are applying.

Permanent resident immigrants and U.S. citizens who have not met the above requirements are also required to submit scores from either the TOEFL or IELTS.

Refer to your intended graduate program of study to determine which test scores are required (GRE/GMAT). Please have the testing agency send your test scores directly to UMass Boston. UMass Boston’s Graduate Record Examination (GRE) code is 3924.

Completed "Declaration and Certification of Finances Form"(Application for an I-20)

International applicants must download and complete the Declaration and Certification of Finances Form. The form must be accompanied by an affidavit of support from the student’s sponsor, as well as documentation from the sponsor’s bank showing the ability to cover all costs for the duration of study based upon the Estimate of Institutional Costs and Living Expenses Table provided below. If an applicant will be sponsoring his/herself, s/he must provide his/her own bank statement(s).

The form must be completed accurately, and show that the total funds available to the student cover his/her full period of study.

The table below provides an estimate of the annual expenses for a single, international graduate student. Please keep in mind that this cost estimate is based upon a 12-month period, and, depending on the individual, actual costs may be higher.(estimated costs see attachment2)

Applicants must be prepared to pay their own expenses, and should also anticipate yearly increases in institutional costs (such as tuition and fees) and living expenses. For a complete listing of fees, refer to the Tuition and Feespage of the Bursar’s Office. Transportation to and from the U.S. is not included in this estimate. International students are required to pay non-resident tuition and fees.

Completed "Transfer Verification Form", if needed

 

If the applicant holds an I-20 from another U.S. institution, a Transfer Verification Form must be completed by the International Student Advisor at the institution the student is currently attending, or if not currently enrolled, the institution most recently attended.

These cannot be returned to the applicant, so we recommend that you retain copies for your records.
